General summary: Spent the rainy morning and early afternoon exploring downtown Ottawa. Downloaded an excellent self-guided walking tour I found via Tripadvisor and explored the historic district.
Statue of Colonel By, who was responsible for the development of the Rideau Canal. Ottawa was originally named Bytown.Byward Market. A market building, by the same name, has been present within a block of this one since the start of the city.Élisabeth-Bruyère hospital. Named after a nun, from the Order of the Sisters of Charity (or Grey Nuns) who brought care to the downtrodden and ill in this area.Beautiful Notre Dame CathedralOffice of the Prime Minister. Went to the Rideau (pronounced REE-doh) Canal museum, near the base of the 8-stepped lock.

Left the wall in Ottawa in the afternoon and went through several locks to Black Rapids. There was a nice grassy area and a lock-keepers house. Two other boats tied up and it was a quiet night.
