Day 312- 8/11/2424

Starting location: Anchored at “The Pool” at Northeast end of Baie Fine Channel, North of Killarney, Ontario, Canada.

Weather: 57 am, 67 pm, rain

Ending location: Moored on the wall in Little Current, Ontario, Canada.

Statute miles: 24

General summary: Our anchor fortunately came up nearly clean in the morning, so we had clearly picked a better spot on our second anchoring at The Pool. We needed a marina stop to charge, refuel, and provision, so motored on to the town of Little Current. It is a bit of a misnomer and probably should be called Big Current as wind-driven water flows back and forth from the North Channel to Georgian Bay through this waterway that is maybe 1000 feet wide at the city. As a result, the current can be heavy and reverse, depending on the direction and speed of the wind. We passed through the swinging bridge to enter town. The marina advises you from which direction to approach, based on the current at the time, so you could guess how long a boat had been there by which direction it was facing on the wall. Cute small downtown area and reasonable selections at the local grocery store. Found a good ramen restaurant for dinner. Ran into some boater friends and caught up.

Swinging bridge
Tied up on the wall downtown. Moorage run by local municipality.

hi Lisa. Trying to trace on the map how you got to Petoskey Michigan. Did you go through Sault Ste Marie to get there?

There is a small channel on the West side of Drummond Island the we took, going South, from the North Channel to Lake Huron. Then we went West through the Straits of Mackinac.
