Day 57, 58, 59, 60- 11/29/23-12/2/23

Starting location: Seville Harbour Marina, FL

Weather: Wednesday 11/29 – 38 am (brrr). Sunny. 59 pm. Thursday 11/30 – 45 am. Light cloud cover. 60 pm. Friday 12/1 – 65 am. Light cloud cover. Drizzle off and on. 75 pm. Saturday 12/2 – 65 am. 75 pm. Rain most of the day.

Ending location: same

Statute miles: 0

General summary: Wednesday 11/29 — One of the coldest mornings so far, but warmed up quickly when the sun came out. We need to pause movement a bit as Tom needs to see a dentist in a few days for a semi-urgent issue. Appointment scheduled for Tuesday just East of here. Also, winds are going to pick up substantially until the weekend, so best to stay put. Did a walking tour of historic downtown Pensacola. Well designed – follow a red line on the sidewalk and there are QR codes to scan at various locations that give details.

Plaza Ferdinand where Florida territory was officially given to the US by Spain in 1821.

Thursday 11/30 – Walked (3 miles round trip) to get groceries and then did laundry. Read, relaxed, watched a movie on Netflix. Tom made delicious lamb stew for dinner.

Cocoa waiting for us to finish shopping.

Friday 12/1 – I can’t remember ever waking up to warmer temperatures than the previous day’s high. Also much more humid. It makes sense, though, looking at the wind direction. It was directly from the North before, bringing chilled temps from Canada. Now it is coming from directly South from the Caribbean and feels almost tropical. Toured the National Naval Aviation Museum.

Top gun Tom
Space capsule doesn’t seem very spacious

Saturday 12/2 – Walked in heavy rain to Saturday Market on Palifox Street, where we got cinnamon rolls for tomorrow and homemade dog treats for Cocoa. Then walked to Joe Patti’s Seafood, a local favorite place to get seafood and not to be missed!

HUGE selection of fresh seafood

We really do plan on leaving tomorrow, as winds will have calmed by morning.

Boater information: Seville Marina has nice docks, locked entry, stylish newly renovated bathrooms, showers, laundry. Grassy parks just outside of fence for dog walks. Gas and pump-out in at marina nearby. Excellent seafood restaurant (The Fish House) on site. No courtesy car but grocery store 1.5 miles away and Uber readily available.

Imagine spending one full day in that capsule.
Food is in packets. No showers, very limited water. Cannot stand up (this is what would kill me). Cannot leave or escape.
Now imagine the next day. You wake up and you are still there, still no escape, no running water, cannot stand up.
I would rather eat every single thing at Joe Patti’s place (and I don’t even like seafood) that be in that capsule. 😀

It is so enjoyable tracking your trip. Thank you so much for blogging.

I was wondering who would be the Blue Angel pilot. He looked like an old pro. And then I enlarged my view. And guess who, TOM. A man of many talents to be sure!

Am very proud to know you and what you are accomplishing. Who would have known that there is a plaza with that kind of history in Pensacola.

    Your dog seems so precious.
