Day 53 – 11/25/23

Starting location: Tarkiln Bay, FL

Weather: 49 am. Partly cloudy. Mid 60s pm. Mostly sunny.

Ending location: Anchored in Big Lagoon, near MM 177 EHL on GICW

Statute miles: Approximately 5

General summary: Had planned to anchor near a beach on the South side of the GICW, but needed to find a better protected spot from predicted winds for tonight. Also have been reading that dogs are extremely unwelcome on most Florida beaches, so trying to figure out how to handle that. Found a nice spot on the North side and saw lots of people walking their dogs on that small beach. Dinghied to shore and chatted with the locals. On their tips, will end up spending a few more days checking out this area.

Westward view from anchorage
Eastward view from anchorage. How about a full moon picture this time?

Boater information: We were warned by locals that you are in military lands if you get too close to shore in this specific location and may be asked to move. We were wondering what the red circle with the white hash mark was on Navionics, but there was no electronic explanation. We were just outside of that, so likely ok and no one bothered us.

Glad things are going well for you. Are you actually on the Mississippi River now?

Have you considered disguising your dog?

She would make a good, though small, Wookie.
