About

The initial page of our blog is a good place to learn a bit about us. I thought I’d use this page to clarify a few things. First off, we are not planning on using this blog for any financial gain. We are not influencers. We are not supported by any of the marinas, restaurants, apps, items, or anything else we reference. Second, we are fairly strong introverts, so the physical socialization on the loop is a bit daunting for us. We love meeting new people and swapping stories, but please understand if you meet us that we can only socialize so much before we need some down time. That’s not you, its us. Third, we tend to gravitate more towards nature activities rather than urban crawls. There will be some city walks and museum stops, but we will likely prioritize finding good anchorages and hikes. We probably won’t reference much city nightlife, if that is what you are looking for.

Finally, while this blog is meant to document our Great Loop experience, I wanted to make those who read this who might someday travel to the Pacific Northwest, where we are from, aware of the excellent Exploring cruising guides by Don and Reanne Douglas. Highly, highly recommended. Also, the book Cape Horn, One Man’s Dream, One Woman’s Nightmare by Reanne is one of my favorite books. It is an enthralling sailing story from a female perspective. I have read it three times and found it as captivating as Into Thin Air, an Everest climb account by John Krakauer. Even dudes, I think, would enjoy the read.

Bon voyage…
