Day 302 – 8/1/24

Starting location: Moored in Big Sound Marina, Parry Sound, Ontario, Canada

Weather: 68 am, 84 pm, sunny

Ending location: Anchored off of Killbear Point at Killbear Provincial Park, in 30,000 islands area of Northern Georgian Bay, Ontario, Canada

Statute miles: 8

General summary: Motored out into Parry Sound, which was surrounded by land but surprisingly deep and wide, which led to a little unexpected wind and chop. We anchored and things calmed down by the afternoon. This is a popular campground that has several sandy swimming beaches. We dinghied to shore and walked about the campground (many busy RV and tent sites) and then did a hike over pink hued rock to a light station. The visitor’s center is marked by a teepee, well seen from shore, as this is Indigenous land. There is a minimal charge for coming onto land that goes to the native population. Went swimming off the boat a couple of times, which was so refreshing in the continued heat and humidity.
