Day 208-209 – 4/29-30/24

Starting location: Parks Marina, Tangier Island, VA.

Weather: 62 am, 82 pm, sunny – Monday 2/29. 65 am, 83 pm, partly sunny.

Ending location: Moored at Onancock Wharf and Marina, Onancock, VA.

Statute miles: 19, then 0 until departure

General summary: Motored 12 miles East to the opening of Onancock Creek and then another 6 miles following a channel to the town of Onancock. The lush green forests and well maintained colonial style houses with blooming azaleas and dogwood trees greeted us as we wound along the river to our marina. One of the best maintained marinas we’ve been to. And free laundry! We did another self-guided walking tour and had delicious crab cakes at Mallards on the Warf, but unfortunately did not get serenaded by locally famous Johnny Mo, the singing chef.

Colonial style houses
Azaleas
Missed the market, unfortunately. It is apparently very popular.
Toured the Kerr house. Unchanged exterior from 1799.
Local art
“When pigs fly”. I’m sure there is a story there.
Eating dinner facing the river on the restaurant deck. Cocoa could join us.
