General summary: Guide books indicated Sunbury would be a stop similar to quirky Hoppies and Birdsong, so we had to check it out. I had spoken with the owner the day before and predicted we’d be there between 12-2, but we had to make an earlier run to make it between thunderstorms. When I called to let her know we were near around 10am, it appeared I’d woken her up and her son was out crabbing. This is truly a family-run place. She was able to round someone up and we got gas then tied up at the end of a long pier. The biting flies were the worst I have ever experienced and I got multiple bites in the few minutes it took us to dock. The end of the pier was covered in Pelican poop (pink, grey, and white) that smelled of dead fish and was difficult to wash off. Fortunately, it rained heavily for a bit which helped.
We took a walk to Fort Morris. This is basically mounds of dirt used to hide soldiers in gun battles during the Revolutionary War. There was a nice nature hike on the outskirts.
We had a delicious Mahi Mahi dinner at the restaurant, which was super busy with locals so glad we had made a reservation as recommended on their web site.

Boater information: Sunbury Crab Company and Marina has good floating wooden docks, gas, power, water. They allow you to use a bathroom and shower in what looks like a rental house – bed was unmade and there were cups in the sink, but no one was there. There is a pool. No laundry.
