Day 145-148 – 2/26-29/24

Lisa’s location: Orlando, FL

Lisa’s summary: Spent 4 days at the Cabana Bay Resort Hotel in Orlando, FL, which is associated with Universal Studios. I would definitely go back there. Loved the mid-century modern decor. Large TV screens played old commercials from the 50s and 60s (without sound – thank you!) in the dining area. Comfy and clean rooms. Two pools and a lazy river. A starbucks in the lobby. Several restaurants. A bowling alley on the second floor. Got discounted theme park tickets with early park admission as well as two days of express passes. Free shuttle bus to and from parks (and closest hotel to the water park). Michelle and I did every roller coaster and all the Harry Potter rides/shows/exhibits.

Hogsmeade

The wand chooses the wizard
Platform nine and three quarters

Have you seen this wizard?

We did check out some non-wizarding stuff, too:

Jurassic Park
Scooby Doo!
Dr. Suess
Mardi Gras parade
Mardi Gras masks
By the big globe at entrance

One day at water park:

Wave pool in front of volcano

Bowled at the hotel:

Bowling alley

Two fancy dinners and also ate an entire box of Bertie Bott’s Every Flavor Beans (soap was my least favorite).

Tried Cowfish Restaurant – Japanese and American fusion
Toothsome Chocolate Factory – delicious chocolate-inspired meal in steampunk designed space
Butterbeer! – so yummy 😋
Last day

Took the Brightline train back to Boynton Beach and said “bye for now” to Michelle as she went on further to Miami for her mother’s birthday celebration. This was a bucket list trip inside my bucket list loop. What a fantastic time! Thanks, Michy!!! 🤗❤️

Tom’s location: Boynton Beach, FL

Tom’s summary: Tom rented a car and explored locally. Fixed some stuff on the boat. Collected packages. Boynton Harbor Marina is a party place on Wednesdays for trivia night and on weekends (starting Thursday). No shower or laundry, but bathrooms, power. water, gas, pump-out, small ship store. Walking distance to shopping.

Hike
Crocodile! – circled

What was fixed:

Wallas stove. Another loose connection. Fortunately, an easy fix this time.

Ailsa would go nuts for the Harry Potter park! My favorite photo is the one of the Mystery Machine. Yay for Scooby Doo! Your least favorite Every Flavor Bean being soap made me laugh!

Other “interesting” flavors included pepper, ear wax, vomit, bogies, earthworm, grass, and sausage.

Dirt and toothpaste were apparently in previous editions.
