General summary: While we don’t want to head into the Gulf of Mexico too early in Hurricane Season (latest hurricane on record was November 22), it is becoming clear that we don’t want to remain too far North either, as the nighttime lows are going to dip below freezing at our current location mid-week. How to strike the right balance? Looks like it’s cold at night even in Mobile, AL, just before the Gulf. Things warm up a bit the following week. Will just continue to head South slowly, use our heater overnight when needed, and dress warmly. So far, I’ve only worn shorts one day (today). Glad I brought enough long pants and cold weather stuff. Took dinghy down at anchorage to take Cocoa to shore (unbelievably sticky mud!), then rowed around boat and scrubbed the hull clean at the water line. Really needed it! Grilled pork and alligator sausage for dinner. (When in Rome…) It was surprisingly delicious 😋.
