Day 21 – 10/24/23

Starting location: Pisgah Bay, KY

Weather: Overcast in am, turned partly sunny, mid 70s

Ending location: Panther Bay, TN. Near MM 60 on Tennessee River

Statute miles: Approx 30

General summary: Somewhat choppy water overnight due to wind direction and exposure. Calmed by morning. Took dinghy to shore and walked 4 miles on Hillman Heritage trail. Starting to tromp through dried fallen leaves, a great fall sound. Some remnants from Star Lime Works (house, mine, store) from since defunct limestone mining company. Returned to boat, stowed everything, and pulled up anchor. This stretch of the Tennessee River is called Kentucky Lake and is quite wide and long. Lots of fetch for waves to develop and wind picked up again, coming from due South so a choppier ride on the nose. We’ve had much worse, just slowed progress a bit. Turned in to Panther Bay, taking the North fork into Dry Forks Bay and anchored in small cove in 3 feet.

Dragonfly spent about 30 minutes resting on my feet.

What broke:

Toilet seat. Nothing pink duct tape can’t fix. New one on order.
