Day 20 – 10/23/23

Starting location: Green Turtle Bay, KY

Weather: Sunny, mid 70s

Ending location: Anchorage in Pisgah Bay, KY. Near MM 30 on Tennessee River.

Statute miles: 8

General summary: In anticipation of our radio situation being remedied today, we took care of some last minute business. Dog walk, groceries, water, showers, pump out. Radio arrived by mail around noon and was installed efficiently. Even checked with a neighboring boat to make sure they could “see” us electronically. All good! Short of visiting the pub (aptly named the “Thirsty Turtle”) and getting massages (tried, but they were booked until early November) we did everything we possibly could at this marina. Time to move on, but slow down and pace ourselves. Shouldn’t be out in the Gulf until late November/early December. Headed out to cross over the channel from Lake Barkley into Kentucky Lake.

Fall color

Anchored in 12 feet in flooded old quarry. Heard this is a popular cliff jumping area in the summer for teens. Lots of painted rocks.

Painted cliffs

Boater information: Narrow entrance into quarry area. Pretty deep to shore along cliff walls. Best area to anchor is in northeast most corner.
