Day 16 – 10/19/23

Starting location: Land Between the Lakes State Park, KY

Weather: Rain in early morning then sunny low 70s

Ending location: Green Turtle Bay Marina, KY

Statute miles: Approx. 25

General summary: After viewing a lovely sunrise over breakfast, we rode the dinghy 2 miles in to a land bridge by Honker Lake. Did loop trail, about 5 miles. Lots of lily pads, waterfowl. Cocoa was happy running around, sniffing stuff, and probably did three times the mileage we did. Returned to boat and headed back to Green Turtle Bay Marina.

As we approached the entrance to Green Turtle Bay Marina, we saw not 1, not 2, but 11 boats coming towards us from Barkley Lock and Dam. Likely the Chicago contingent. Just a stroke of luck, timing-wise, as we were first to arrive, get gas, and move to our assigned slip. Took a few hours before all were gassed up, pumped out, and moved to resting places for the night. All impressively organized by marina staff.
