Day 8 – 10/11/23

Starting location: Fords Bay, KY

Weather: Overcast, 60s

Ending location: Clarksville Marina, Clarksville, TN

Statute miles: 57

General summary: River mud may be a pain to get off you shoes, clothes, dog, and boat but it sure holds an anchor well. Headed out of the bay and continued up the Cumberland River to Clarksville, TN. Had “The Last Train to Clarksville” by the Monkees running through my head the whole way. Passed a few barges. Many locals bass fishing. Eagles flying about at times. Deciduous trees starting to change color. Got through somewhat narrow entrance, 6 feet deep, to well-run Clarksville Marina. Met some other C Dory owners and Loopers. Got gas and moved to a covered slip with power and water. Very secure with a keypad entrance gate. Nice huge grassy McGregor Park above for a dog walk and stroll. Walked to get BBQ (amazed that I am not in a meat coma by now – the BBQ has been spectacular everywhere).

View along the way
Clarksville, TN

Boater information:

1. Clarksville Marina does not use Dockwa app, but easy to reserve over the phone.

2. Many references to having to cross a very busy highway, if trying to go anywhere but the park. Very true. No stoplights or pedestrian crosswalks anywhere. Be careful!
